Established in 1851,
Saratoga Springs has been known as an
historic and leisurely respite jewel in
New York State. Historically known
as the site of healing waters originally
founded by Native Americans, a famous
region for the turning point of the
Revolutionary War, a celebrated
Victorian town that brought the wealthy
with their rich architecture, and the
oldest thoroughbred race track in
America. Saratoga is flavored with
traditions of the past that enrich its
character as a small American town that is
thriving today with a friendly atmosphere
rarely found but desired by many.
Capitalizing on all it's assets, this small town has
the right mix to bring a wide variety of
visitors.
Skidmore College attracts those in
pursuit of higher education and the City
Center (Saratoga's Convention Center)
draws convention and event goers.
The
Saratoga Raceway draws the most
renowned in the Thoroughbred Racing world
and the
Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC)
is the summer home for the
New York Ballet
and
Philadelphia Orchestra as well as a
major venue for concerts. Smaller
venues but no less appreciated are such
places as
Caffe Lena, one of the oldest coffee
houses in America.
Saratoga's location in the Hudson Valley region
attracts 'leaf peepers' in fall, skiers in
winter, fishermen,
golfers,
hikers,
mountain bikers,
canoeists and
white water rafters in
the spring, and fans of
thoroughbred racing in
the summer.
The Saratoga Downtowner Motel, located in the heart of
Saratoga Springs, New York is the
ideal place to hang your hat any time of
the year. |
